Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the DearSelf application ("the App") developed and published by Rainletter LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using DearSelf, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using DearSelf, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

DearSelf is a personal journal application that allows you to write, organize, and reflect on journal entries. The App includes an on-device AI assistant that operates entirely on your device without requiring network connectivity.

3. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you create within DearSelf, including journal entries, photos, mood records, tags, and any other data. We claim no rights to your content.

Since your content is stored locally on your device (and optionally in your personal iCloud), you are responsible for maintaining backups of your data.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use DearSelf only for its intended purpose as a personal journal. You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App.
• Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the App.
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App.
• Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.

5. Intellectual Property

The DearSelf application, including its design, code, icons, illustrations, and AI model integration, is the intellectual property of Rainletter LLC and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

6. AI Features

DearSelf's AI journal agent provides reflective prompts and observations based on your entries. The AI operates on-device and is intended as a reflective tool, not as a substitute for professional mental health advice, therapy, or medical treatment.

If you are in crisis or need immediate help, please contact a mental health professional or emergency services in your area.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

DearSelf is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any AI-generated content within the App.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rainletter LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of DearSelf.

Since DearSelf stores data locally on your device, we are not responsible for data loss resulting from device failure, accidental deletion, or any other cause within your control.

9. Third-Party Terms

Your use of DearSelf is also subject to Apple's App Store terms and conditions. If you enable iCloud sync, Apple's iCloud terms apply to the handling of your synced data.

10. Termination

You may stop using DearSelf at any time by uninstalling the App. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the App at any time, with or without notice.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The revised Terms will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Rainletter LLC operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
